Canada's Food Guide: is it enough to eat healthy?

Discuss how bad is that the Canada's Food Guide lacks recommendations on daily caloric intake.

- The Canada's Food Guide was developed 65 years ago, why the rate of obesity in the country is still increasing despite the government dietary recommendations?

- Is Canada's Food Guide provides all the information for not gaining weight?

- What is the normal daily caloric intake for you?

- Is the recommended amount of portions per day considers the extra food components that are usually harmful for health?

- What happens in human body if a person eats the recommended amount of portions per day without counting calories?

  1. There, I have something about your 1st question, “why the rate of obesity in the country is still increasing despite the government dietary recommendations?” I saw a video which talked about the changes between the 1960s and present before. It seems like today’s restaurants, coffee shops, etc. offer more than the past. To compare the size of plate or coffee cups, it increased 20% or 30%. So, maybe it’s not the fault of Canada’s Food Guide, that’s the change of culture, folks prefer to have large, huge size.
By the way, I hope you could introduce Canada’s Food Guide at the beginning, just give us an idea of what is the goal.

We are glad to see your presentation, you know, lots of people want to be healthy or have a prefect shape. Ha-ha…

  5. Exactly Carol, I will research only one lacking point: "adequate daily caloric intake", why it is so important to include this information in the Canadian Food Guide.
